Underground Mining

2007. Assessment of the Development of the Mezhegeyski deposit

OOO SPb-Giproshakht evaluated the technological and cost efficient aspects of deposit?s development with regard to possible investment options.

2006-2007. Feasibility Study of Coal Reserves in the Konyukhtinski-Zapadny Section of the Beryozovo-Biryulinski Deposit. High-tech drying methods

The specific feature of the Konyukhtinski-Zapadny section of the Beryozovo-Biryulinski Deposit is its high water content. This problem was resolved by applying high-tech drying methods proposed in the feasibility study by SPb-Giproshakht specialists.

The list of mineral resource conditions for the calculation of coal reserves in the section was also included in the feasibility study.

2006. Feasibility Report on the Construction of the Usinskaya Mine. (Pechorski coal basin)

SPb-Giproshakht studied the possibility of accessing the deposit by ramps and proposed the most up-to-date mining technology. The design capacity of the mine is 3 million tons of coal per year.

2006. Reasessment of the project was made with access and development the reserves of the II horizon of the Vorgashorskaya mine.

It justified the level of annual coal output of 4.2 million tons. The Vorgashorskaya mine still remains the largest in Europe.

2005. Project of the Construction of the Krasnaya Gorka Mine, Ulug-Khemski Coal Basin

The production capacity of the mine was planned to increase from 3.5 to 4.0 million tons of coal per year.

2005. Barentsburg Mine

The reassessment of the project for accessing and development of the mine lower horizons. The aim of the project was to maintain the production capacity of the mine to be 120,000 t of coal per year.

The reasons for the reassessment were: extreme discontinuity of the Verkhniy (Upper) seam thickness, argillite interlayers and obsolete mining equipment.

2005. Pechorsky Mines ¹1 and ¹2

The ROM production of each mine is about 3 mt per year. The Giproshakht Institute proposed to apply efficient mining methods, transport layout and equipment. This will ensure stable and cost efficient operation of the facilities during the entire lifetime (38-40 years).

2004. Feasibility Study of the Zhernovskaya-1 and Zhernovskaya-3 Mines — Yerunakovskoye Deposit

Giproshakht developed project of construction of the Zhernovskaya-1 mine with annual design ROM capacity of 3 million tons per year. The implementation of the project will create 1,100 jobs.

2003. Project of the Reconstruction of the Basic Explosive Materials Depot for JSC Leningradslanets — A world first!

The uniqueness of the project was that 120 tons of explosives were to be stored underground. This option was applied for the first time in the world.

2003. Feasibility Study of the Seydinski Deposit of the Pechorski (Pechora) Coal Basin

In the feasibility study of the deposit optimum exploitation of several access variants was proposed. For each variant the design capacity was 3 to 5 million tons of coal per year.

2002. Djandjra Mine, India

Giproshakht developed a project for the Indian mine Djandjra. Development of the mine field was made without stopping the main production. This approach enabled to extract lower seams without reducing the production of the upper ones.

1973. Vorgashorskaya Mine, the Largest in Europe!

Specialists of the Giproshakht Institute designed the largest coal mine in Europe — Vorgashorskaya (Pechorski coal basin). Its design capacity was 4.5 million tons of coal per year (in the ’80s the actual coal production reached 6.5 million tons per year).

The Zhernovskaya-3 mine with annual design capacity of 2 mt of coal per year will enable to create 700 jobs.

Thanks to the proximity of the sites industrial facilities were planned to be placed on the site of the Zhernovskaya-1 mine. It was scheduled to create a unified coal transport scheme and construct a loading station Zhernovskaya.
